Rise

Every neighborhood
needs a square.

Rise is where your neighborhood meets. Speak your mind, hear your neighbors, catch what's happening, lend a hand. Now gathering across Vancouver.

The Rise sunrise mark

The square for Vancouver's
neighborhoods.

What happens in the square

No outrage feeds. No shouting into the void. Just neighbors. Voice an opinion and get counted, or post what's happening: alerts, wins, and things to share, in your own words.

1 · Speak

Say it over the fence

A minute in your own words, spoken or typed. Nothing is shared until you say so.

2 · Gather

Neighbors echo what rings true

Your words reach the people nearby, under your name. Agreement is counted, not argued.

3 · See

The neighborhood takes shape

Every voice adds to an honest picture of where your neighborhood stands. One worth sharing.

Built on the oldest rule there is: love thy neighbor.

Most apps compete for your attention. Rise is built to make your street feel like a neighborhood.

Come as yourself

Names, not handles.

Kindness by design

Echo what rings true. Skip what doesn't. No pile-ons.

Look out for each other

Small help, freely given, close to home.

Put up by neighbors

What's happening nearby

Block parties, park yoga, a tournament at the community centre. Neighbors put events up, you browse what's coming, ask the host a question, and show up. Hosting something? Putting it up takes a minute.

  • “Block party on the 300 block. Bring a chair and a dish.”Saturday · Mount Pleasant
  • “Beginner yoga in the park. Mats welcome, rain cancels.”Sunday morning · Kitsilano
  • “Table tennis night at the community centre. All levels.”Thursday · Riley Park
Paid work, neighbor to neighbor

Need a hand? Have one to offer?

The Neighbor Board is for the small stuff neighborhoods are made of: a couch to move, a fence to fix, help after school. Post the job with the pay you're offering, like $24/hour, or browse the board and pick something up. Built-in chat sorts out the details, neighbor to neighbor. Rise handles no money and takes no cut. Pay stays between the two of you, the way it always has on your street.

  • “Fence needs a fix. $24/hour, materials in the garage.”Ask · Mount Pleasant
  • “Retired teacher here. Happy to tutor math after school.”Offer · Riley Park
  • “Our dog needs a lunchtime walk on weekdays. $15 a walk.”Ask · Kitsilano

A square you can trust

These aren't settings. They're how Rise is built.

  • Your address stays yours. You share a neighborhood, never a street address.
  • No ads. No data sales. No tracking. Your email signs you in. That's all it's for.
  • Named to neighbors, anonymous to the world. Anything published outside the app carries no names.
  • Verification without surveillance. One in-the-moment check. Coordinates are never stored.

About Rise

Rise ("Rise: Neighborhood Voice") is built and operated by People Ventures Inc., an independent British Columbia company in Metro Vancouver, Canada.

We're starting where we live: Vancouver, one local area at a time. The people closest to a problem are usually the last ones asked. Rise exists to change who gets heard.

On the web today. An app on your phone. App stores next.

There's a spot in the square for you.

Rise is new. The square fills one neighbor at a time, and the first ones shape it.
